Alex has turned eight this year. He is growing up so fast. Gone is that little boy who used to hold my hand and follow me everywhere. Today I have a lad who thinks he is big and small but in my eyes he is just as small as he always was. My little baby, my little son.
Things are changing. I need to get used to that. As the days pass and I see Alex growing I realize that he needs more than just me. He has been playing with his friends more often. He has been enjoying the outdoors so much more. I’ve noticed that he has got more confident and a lot less scared. Even though I’ve noticed all this, I’ve found it hard to accept.
I’ve begun to miss my quality time with Alex and I decided that I needed to do something about it. One of my friends suggested cycling together. I’ve never been much of a cycle person but I was willing to try just about anything. Interestingly enough we found ourselves bonding as we learnt to balance our bikes together. It was fun. Soon we started cycling around the neighborhood every evening. The activity was turning out to be a lot more fun than I expected.
It was soon time to start planning a vacation. I couldn’t help wondering if I could plan something different. That’s when I came across the guide to leisure activities from France Voyage. It’s an incredible site and it’s a lot of fun to browse through the variety of stuff that they offer.
I had been wanting to take Alex to Paris for a really long time. It took me a while but I eventually stumbled on a bike tour. The bike tour takes you around central Paris. The France Voyage had everything figured out. They had route maps, pits stops and so much more. The cycling was an added bonus. It fit in with our current excitement too.
I passed the idea by Alex. His excitement knew no bounds. I had to struggle and tell him that we could not leave immediately. Luckily for me, Alex is a sensible boy. Once his initial excitement wore off, he calmed down a bit. It was good to see him happy.
Booking the trip was simple. Since Spring was already on us, I knew that the next weekend would be ideal. Another reason definitely was that I was extremely excited. I couldn’t wait to get on a cycle and take a tour of one of the most talked about cities in the world. I had a week free and I wanted to use it well.
The week seemed to crawl along. Alex had his bag packed on the first day itself. I love the way he organizes his things. There are times when I wonder whether I should ask him to help me to pack my stuff too!
Finally the time has come… Just another few hours to takeoff. I can already feel it in my bones. This is going to be one of the best vacations we have ever had!
